Stand Up Paddle Board Lessons

Stand Up Paddleboard Lessons Level 1

Blue Lagoon Pattaya is an ideal location to learn Stand Up Paddle-boarding. Rarely do we get waves big enough to do any serious surfing at Blue Lagoon, but the calm water makes it an ideal location for learning how to stand up and paddle smoothly and easily.

After a windy day, there are often small waves to play on and improve your balance on the SUP, while gaining some very basic wave knowledge. Be warned, SUP wave surfing is a highly addictive activity, even with tiny knee high waves, the feeling of being picked up and carried along is very cool.

There is much more to SUP than wave riding however, some of best times you can have are on dead flat water, especially evening sunset cruises past all the restaurants and cool beach bars, or exploring rivers and wetlands, going places where no-one has ever stood before.

Stand Up Paddle Boarding is very easy, but like most sports, you can gain tremendous benefits from a little one on one SUP coaching at the beginning and along the way.

Paddle-Power SUP Course

Good SUP Paddle Technique is the difference between gliding along in a straight line and splashing around getting nowhere - and it is so easy!

At Amara's we offer the Paddle-Power level 1 SUP lesson where you will quickly learn to paddle with power, efficiency, and effectiveness.

Amara's Partner Craig, completed two years full time study as a remedial Sports Therapist and later studied Personal Training with FIA in Sydney Australia. He has been an Avid Stand Up Paddle-board enthusiast since Starboard owner Svein Rasmussen showed him a prototype in 2006. Ever since then he was hooked and has been paying close attention to paddle technique and designing training drills that will help you gain great skill and add focus to your SUP sessions no matter what the conditions.

This is what he has to say:

"To really appreciate SUP, and enjoy the sport to the fullest, I whole heartedly recommend you complete our 30 minute Paddle Technique Course. I have been paying close attention, trying to figure out the best way to paddle, for nearly three years now. Breaking the Paddle Stroke into 3 main parts. Concentrating on efficiency, which muscle fibres you are recruiting and how to best use the leverage your bodies joints create at the different stages of the stroke."

"People we have taught this way have quickly learnt to glide over the surface and eat up miles as easily as walking. Even people who have been paddling on their own for months have made vast improvements in power, balance, easy speed, and better ability to track in a straight line. All in a matter of 10 - 30 minutes of coaching".

"Come past the surf shop for a chat, anytime, we are happy to discuss board shapes and paddleboard adventure holidays we have done and are planing".

Why learn to SUP?

Easy but engaging, SUP is a peaceful sport, while standing up you are more attuned to the motion of the sea, that and the way the light dances on the water can become almost mesmerizing. After only a few sessions, you learn to paddle efficiently and your body eats up kilometers effortlessly. Of course you can go faster if you want a harder work-out.

We do Sunset SUP tours when the mood takes us, if you are interested in joining let us know.
