Imagine, you and a group of friends gliding around a  Beautiful tropical Island, peering down at untouched coral and seaweed forrests. Drifting into White sand resorts for a fruit shake or stopping on tiny secluded beaches under ancient jungle cliffs. Amara Water Sports and friends, enjoyed our Koh Samet Island holiday on Starboard Stand Up Paddle Boards. We  were blown away by the serene beauty, we used Windsurfing Sails on the Whopper and Blend Models and this proved to be great fun. Myself and the owner of Drifters Beach Cafe paddled accross to the island from the Mainland in Rayong. It took us about 1hour and 40 minutes with an average 2-3 knot head wind. When we discovered how clear the water was and how much healthy marine life is growing around the island we decided that Koh Samet was a great choice for this Great SUP Adventure.

Amara takes to the water

The sand is white and fine packed, the sky is reflected from it in brilliant blue. Paddling over the seaweed and a corel is like stand up snorkelling over underwater forrests. It is great because you can drift around and point things out to your freinds, who can paddle over and share the latest discovery.

Clear Water, giant fish tank
We hired some scooters with off-road tyres and headed off around the island to explore resorts and possible future landing sites. The roads on this island are atrocious, I do not recommend riding a bike on them unless you are very confident off-road. To me the rugged rocky coastline and cliffs dropping into clear blue water was even more breath taking than the white sandy beaches. Paddling at this island will be like peering into a giant aquarium, stealing precious moments in places where few people have ever been before in a timeless landscape.

prehistoric coastline
We will hire a fishing boat as a support vessal, and keep a loose schedule, allowing for extra exploration of smaller islands and shallow rocky bays.

wildlife
Of course not all the wildlife is in the sea.
bangalow sup accomodation
Accomodation on Koh Samet ranges from these bumgalows for 500THB/night to exclusive resorts over 5,000/night. We managed to find a comfy place for our gear and spent the night sitting on the beach leaning on triangle pillows, drinking and eating up a storm.

silver sand beach
Koh Samet is broken into private bays without the enormous stretches of beach found on other Tropical Islands of Thailand's tourist haunts. Personally I lke this, it allows for individual resorts and bars to express their own character. Also it makes for a more interesting pub crawl paddle with a fresh grand entry every frew minutes.
and another perfect beach
Yep, this looks like a good place for a beer...

lunch
From wooden decks and brewed coffee..
juiced
To bambou seats and fresh juices.
Explore on Paddle Board
A lot of coastline to cover, but we can do it in 2 days stopping every 2-3 hours with fishing boat support and picnic lunch for the more pristines side of the island.
Fishing boat support
